CBSE & Affiliation

Geethaanjali is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) whose primary focus is:

  • Innovations in teaching-learning methodologies by devising students friendly and students centered paradigms
  • Reforms in examinations and evaluation practices
  • Skill learning by adding job-oriented and job-linked inputs
  • Regularly updating the pedagogical skills of the teachers and administrators by conducting in-service training programmes, workshops, etc.

For classes I to XII we follow the curriculum and syllabus prescribed by CBSE which is based on the National Curriculum Framework (2005) with the core rationale:

“Education, as a planned endeavour, at a personal level on a small scale or institutional level on a large scale, aims at making children capable of becoming active, responsible, productive, and caring members of society. They are made familiar with the various practices of the community by imparting the relevant skills and ideas. Ideally, education is supposed to encourage the students to analyse and evaluate their experiences, to doubt, to question, to investigate-in other words, to be inquisitive and to think independently.”

CBSE also mandates that students be evaluated on the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) system up to class X. Students are assessed on a five point grading scale with no pass/fail up to class V and on a seven point grading scale for classes VI-VIII. CCE for classes IX and X comprises three parts based on formative and summative assessment, co-scholastic assessment and activity participation based assessment. At the senior secondary level CBSE conducts two exams at the end of classes X and XII to assess and recommend readiness for future endeavours.
